The menu changes daily depending
on catches sourced from local fishing boats in Staithes, and
from the larger quays in Whitby and Scarborough . We try to
offer the familiar and the less familiar and encourage people
to try something new.

Vegetables are often sourced from
local farms, herbs from our own rooftop garden or local allotments.
Milk and cream come from a local dairy; cheeses are sourced
from Yorkshire’s rich range of producers and small producers
in other regions; honey comes from a Staithes’ beekeeper.
Breads are all baked daily on the premises.

Unlike many other restaurant owners,
we prepare all the food ourselves and cook throughout the
evening.
There is no one ‘style’ of cooking, no one source
of inspiration. Where the raw materials are outstanding ,
we favour simplicity, and clear, defined flavours on the plate.
Fish may come with an accompanying sauce but is not soused
in it – it is left to the diner to mix or match flavours
or to savour each individually.
The same approach extends to the vegetables which accompany
our main courses and are included in the price.

Desserts and ice creams are also
home made, as are the chocolates that accompany coffee. |
